What is the difference between feral and anthro

So it can actually get kind of complicated and the definition could change person to person! Someone might give you a completely different answer from me! Feel free to correct me on any blatant wrongness. I am not the most active furry in the world. Make a briefly worded offering! Anonymous asked: What's the difference between furry and anthro? Can walk upright.

A person who refuses to identify as a furry , probably because of their bad name or fruity nature. An animal with human-like characteristics. A human with animal-like characteristics can also be called an anthro, but technically they are not. An anthro is, technically, an animal that can: a walk upright, b talk, or talk somewhat AKA has human vocal chords , c has human features i.

These characteristics separate anthros from humans with cat ears and tail or something like that. His nails were abnormally long, and his hair was scruffy like a wolfs hide. Ears protruded from his head, which followed sounds as as full wolfs would.

Locals in that world are used to cat and lizard anthros, and would not be too surprised to see pony anthros. They would bug out more if a four legged pony talked to them. Anthros are a good choice here. I also wrote a story about a portion of the Earth's population being turned into ponies. I did not want it to be too disruptive so I decided to turn people into anthro ponies.

At least folks can go to work and most people could do their jobs. For a story based in Equestria or mostly based in Equestria, its ponies all the way.

I know how Anthros are seen. If one wanted human features there is also the option of going for a HiE and having a bit of fun with that. The closest I've ever read to a justifiable reason for anthro, was so that it would be more natural for ponies to be able to use human weapons and things in the human world.

It was tenuous at best, and I still wouldn't recommend it, but at least it bucked the trend of 'and now they have boobs' reason. If not, which is the usual answer, then I use regular ol' ponies. For the few stories that might work better, I go ahead and use humans. I never use anthros because in writing there isn't much point to them. They'll only be worthwhile if you plan to put a focus on their animalistic qualities.

Anthro is by far the least popular genre tag on FIMFiction, and is mostly either used for guns or porn. Strictly speaking, ponies are already anthropomorphic representations of people. Like the animals from Kung Fu Panda. They are people, just with some rather big differences in shape. I think you might be misled by the term 'feral' here: as far as I can tell, it refers to the normal MLP pony 'shape'.

They're not actually feral animals. If you want to explore the differences between something with an animistic mindset and a human mindset, you need to find yourself an animal. Ponies do not fit that bill. You can tell, because animals can't bake cakes. Or build helicopters. And because they're already anthro, making them different anthro doesn't bring anything novel to that table: just fingers, which MLP ponies don't need, and boobies, which whilst nice, don't exactly bring much to the intellectual side of a story.

The fact that certain body types are better for certain kinds of stories or make certain things that the characters are meant to do easier means that Anthro or Human might work best. But since Pony is pretty much the base, most stories are going to be pony. I use Anthro for very specific kinds of stories where the whole world is different and the requirements need something different than the cute ponies, like action scenes requiring dexterity of hands and fingers including use of certain kinds of weapons.

Human is used when the story is in the human world, nothing more for me. Pony, again, is the base so unless the story needs something different, nothing changes there. I came here for pony, they're gonna at least have some pony characteristics. So, for me, any Equestria Girls story or humanized Equestria story is right out.

The degree to which I want my pony varies on two things: which is easier for a given scenario, and if there's a reason I can't do the other.

If I do human-in-Equestria, then it's a bigger point of culture shock if they're feral, so that is easier given the scenario. Already having a human means I look through his eyes and so I don't need anthro, so I have a reason not to have the ponies anthro. When I do anthro, I have two things I will not do: they will not have human faces, and they will not have human feet.

The Orthodox Priesthood. Never anything else. HapHazred Group Admin. It's only for sex. It also happens to be a good indicator of poor writing as well.

If the story requires hands, than the writer isn't inventive enough. Anthro only exists around here because furries can't just deal with horses.
