Why do rca cables go bad

Then I toss them. Messages: 1, Location: Fluidic Space. I don't know that I have ever experienced any going "bad", but for perhaps a stiffening in their "compliability" as they get some age on them.

I did however completely almost re-do and reposition my electronics last evening, and I seriously got to thinking, "You know,,,,I really could use need some new RCA cables Sigh..

Soon after that, R hit plywood bottom in the back corner of a drawer. Rejected and alone R had become distant, shrill, and monotone. R had become a bad cable. It only got worse from there. Soon, R began hearing stories about L: How L had been involved in a three way cabling as video: How L had been involved in frequent cable swapping; How L had been paired frequently with other L's, sometimes even in the role of an R: How L had been plugged into a R on one end and an L on the other in some sort of weird interconnect arrangement.
